On-demand, explained

People sometimes describe private jet booking apps as “Uber for jets”. The picture fits how you request a flight. It does not fit how aircraft move. Here is what on-demand can and cannot mean.

The useful part

Where the comparison works

The best part of ride-hailing is the request itself: quick, clear and from your phone. That part translates well to private aviation.

Request anywhere

Send a trip from your phone or laptop in a few taps, with no account to create.

Clear prices

Options arrive with one all-in figure each, so there is no meter running in the background.

Someone on it

A charter advisor follows the trip from request to touchdown and handles changes.

The limits

Where it breaks down

A car circles the block. A jet lives at a base, needs a rested crew and must be confirmed by the company that operates it.

Things that take time

  • Positioning: the aircraft may need to fly to your airport before your trip begins.
  • Crew rest: pilots must have had their legal rest before they can fly you.
  • Airports: opening hours, slots, customs and, abroad, permits all shape timing.
  • Confirmation: the operator checks aircraft, crew and paperwork before saying yes.

Things to be wary of

  • Promises of a jet guaranteed within minutes, anywhere.
  • Prices that do not name the aircraft or the operating carrier.
  • A broker implying that it owns or flies the aircraft itself.
  • Pressure to pay before you have seen a charter agreement.
From tap to touchdown

How a request becomes a confirmed flight

  1. You send the tripRoute, date, passengers and anything special, from pets to a hard arrival time.
  2. We sourceYour advisor checks which suitable aircraft are positioned well, which crews are available and what the airports allow.
  3. You get optionsEach names the aircraft and operator, with flight time and an all-in price.
  4. You signThe charter agreement names the operating carrier and aircraft before you commit.
  5. The operator confirmsAircraft, crew, fuel, catering and any permits are locked in.
  6. You flyArrive at the private terminal, meet the crew and go; your advisor follows the flight.

Positioning in numbers: a light jet based an hour from your departure adds about two billed hours to a one-way trip, once to reach you and once to get home, or roughly $7,000–11,000 at typical rates. That is why where the aircraft sits matters as much as how fast you can request it.
